Berkshire 15, a 9-story boutique residential building, is located just a block from the vibrant 14th and U Street Corridor in Washington, DC, a part of the Greater U Street Historic District. The building offers 96 apartment units, a club room with amenity terrace, roof terrace and below-grade parking for 37 cars.
The design of the building consists of a series of simple, rectilinear volumes that have been articulated to respond to the varying character of the surrounding site. The building features full-height metal and glass projecting bays and balconies that are composed in a neutral-colored brick masonry plane. The uniquely articulated corner bay provides panoramic views for the units and offers a striking presence on the western façade. The challenge to accommodate a modern design into the setting with historic and heritage value influenced the building’s streamlined design that reflects and compliments the timeless presence of the St. Augustine Catholic Church, built in 1876, across the street.
9-story, 82,600-sf new residential building with 96 units and two levels of below-grade parking for 37 cars.
